Kristin (Kicki) Martinsen is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo and a researcher at the Regional Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Eastern and Southern Norway. Her work focuses on increasing access to evidence-based treatments for youth and on developing innovative therapeutic approaches.
Early in her career, she contributed to the cultural adaptation and implementation of the Coping Cat treatment manual for children and adolescents in Norway. Building on this foundation, she collaborated with Dr. Philip C. Kendall, Dr. Kevin Stark, and colleagues to develop the transdiagnostic EMOTION manual—an integrated program targeting both anxiety and depression in youth. This preventive intervention has been evaluated in two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in Norway, both showing promising results. The Norwegian version of the EMOTION manual has since been revised twice, reflecting ongoing refinement based on research and clinical feedback. A hybrid/digital version of the manual has been developed.
